Award Winning Sports Bra Brand, Shock Absorber Goes Live on BigCommerce

Why BigCommerce?

Shock Absorber have a bold ambition, to be the UK’s No.1 sports bra brand. The launch of their new ecommerce store on BigCommerce heralds in an exciting new chapter for the business as they continue to go from strength to strength.  With an ambitious growth agenda for 2020, the new website on BigCommerce will lay the foundation for their future success online.

Shock Absorber were looking for a fast, effective and affordable solution and BigCommerce ticked all the boxes.  Williams Commerce, collaborating closely with the Shock Absorber team were able to deliver the new website, built on BigCommerce in under 12 weeks. Given this included integration with their Navision system, this was considered a solid achievement.

BigCommerce is a leading ecommerce platform, rated for its ease of use, design flexibility, value for money and website features.  Beyond this, BigCommerce’s strong scalability for fast growing and ambitious online retailers means retailers of all sizes won’t be outgrowing BigCommerce anytime soon!  The suite of built-in sales tools is reputed to be larger than that of any of its competitors.  Leading retailers like Toyota and Ben & Jerry’s have chosen BigCommerce and we’ve also recently launched Start-Rite Shoes and Gill Marine on BigCommerce in Q4 of 2019.

Integration with Navision

Key to this project was the Navision integration with BigCommerce.  Technical integration between ERP systems and ecommerce platforms offers retailers great opportunities to automate as much of the order fulfilment process as possible, increasing efficiency and reducing cost to serve customers.  For the Shock Absorber project, the Williams Commerce technical integration team, who have worked with Microsoft Dynamics (Navision) on dozens of projects, undertook the first phase of integration to connect products and stock levels in Navision to BigCommerce, with BigCommerce then firing orders back into Navision (Nav). Following this, Nav then will, in turn, update Shock Absorber’s BigCommerce store again with order status and delivery tracking number.

What we loved about working with Shock Absorber

Undoubtedly their focus on MVP (Minimum Viable Product).  With so much functionality at their disposal already built into the BigCommerce platform, the Shock Absorber team were keen to rely on BigCommerce’s in-built capabilities for this first phase of their go live and the result has achieved a streamlined design, a great functional experience for shoppers and seriously good speed performance.

Shock Absorber have created fantastic engagement across their social channels and this was an opportunity not to be missed, with Instagram integrated with the BigCommerce website.  Within the design, significant home page real estate has been given over to their Instagram gallery of beautiful and authentic images of their products in action with their customers.

A customer-centric approach

Shock Absorber show real dedication to their customers with much focus on the Find Your Fit pages, along with further detailed fitting guides, offering a variety of ways for their shoppers to engage and interact with the products to ensure as accurate a fit as possible is achieved.

The Find Your Fit on their main navigation features a fitting guide, a quiz to find your perfect sports bra and comprehensive FAQs.  It’s this kind of attention to detail that truly helps to achieve lower return rates for the sports bra specialist and is always a challenge for many online fashion retailers.
