The UK’s Luxury Online Designer Jewellery Boutique chooses Magento

Astley Clarke London is the UK’s Luxury Online Designer Jewellery Boutique. It was voted Best Luxury Brand Online in 2009 and 2010, and has recently launched a concession in Harrods. It is one of the fastest growing online retailers in the UK and is backed by Index Ventures.

Brief

Astley Clarke required a replacement for the platform provided to them by Snow Valley in October 2009. They required the new site to:

• Improve the elegance intuitiveness and gravitas of Astley Clarke’s web presence
• Update Astley Clarke’s tools for social integration and customer interaction
• Improve control over content and operational information
• Integrate with their order management platform, MNP’s Order Active
• Provide a platform that will support full international expansion, private sales and viral marketing techniques
• Deliver an infrastructure that lessens Astley Clarke’s reliance on third party developers and allows them to develop in-house web resources

Solution

Williams Commerce delivered a Magento Enterprise platform with a number of custom additions specifically for Astley Clarke. Flint developed the first fully operational item level gift wrapping solution for the Magento platform, created a set of custom controls for content on Astley Clarke’s category and product pages as well as specific guided navigation customisations. This allowed Astley Clarke to deliver a solution that attained and surpassed the ‘magnificence and elegance’ that the Astley Clarke brand represents. To give full operational control and visibility, Flint developed a ‘DataFlow Manager’ product to manage the flow and synchronisation of data between Magento and the OrderActive platform. Flint also extended their Verifone payment gateway module and developed integrations for Lyris, Criteo, Tagman, Linkshare and Affiliate Window.

Results

The site launched in March 2011, and massively simplified Astley Clarke’s operational processes, as well as delivering superior operational uptime and page load speeds. The site has allowed Astley Clarke to evolve their offering at an unprecedented rate and has exceeded all sales targets since the launch.
