Rising Demand for Magento 2.0 from Retail and B2B

Since being launched in November 2015, Magento 2.0 has proved to be an improved platform which has many benefits compared to its predecessor.

Magento Enterprise Partner, Williams Commerce, has been at the forefront of the UK industry when it comes to implementing and launching new builds on the Magento 2.0 platform, with 5 new sites live so far  since the launch including Community and Enterprise, and another 15 website builds currently in progress. Read on to discover what our experience with Magento 2.0 has been so far.

We’ve noticed an improvement in the stability of the platform since the launch of Magento 2.1, with rapid updates being applied and we are also very excited about the high number of new features planned for this year including B2B module (currently in Alpha/Beta Mode), Analytics and Bluefoot CMS page builder to name just a few.

Currently, all B2B functionality implies custom development per Magento project based on its scope, but with the new B2B module this will become standard on Magento 2 Enterprise. The B2B module will consist of customer account multi log in, extensive pricing module, catalogue and payment methods per customer type, as well as order approval which gives the option to be able to quote your web customers online.

Robert Williams, CEO of Williams Commerce, says “The Magento 2.0 platforms seems to offer good speed improvements and is more scaleable. With an increasing number of modules being checked and approved by Magento we’ve seen higher performance delivery, and as new updates come along, the platform offers enhanced functionality.”

“The development environment in which our Magento-certified developers work has also been modernised and we are encouraged by Magento’s recent investment of $250 million from Hillhouse Capital. I expect to see the move to Magento 2 accelerate in the 2nd half of this year and the beginning of 2018, as Magento 1 reaches end of support towards the end of 2018.”

Overall, taking into account the improved usability of the platform, exciting new functionality and better security features such as stronger algorithms for passwords, Magento 2 represents an excellent solution for mid-market ecommerce businesses looking to drive further growth online.
