With 79% of consumers having used it in the next year, the phenomenon that is click and collect is showing no signs of slowing down. This blog will outline how wholesalers can adapt to retail trends to offer their own click and collect services, as well as highlighting the advantages of a click and collect service.
The premise behind click and collect is that it allows customers the chance to order items manually at their own convenience, and pick them up at a location of their choice. While Wholesalers may not want to use other outlets, they can offer their trade customers the opportunity to pick pre-packed items up from their depots.
The service helps customers ‘check and reserve’, i.e. helping them to manually check products are still in stock, and then reserve that stock through the click of a mouse.
Among click and collect’s attractions is the certainty that your item will actually be there, waiting for you. Certainly, browsing and ordering online with a click and collect service saves the stress of rummaging through the aisles, and bypasses delayed/mismanaged deliveries.
Last year, a survey from Which? found that 60 per cent of people shopping online last year had problems with delivery. – which more than explains the attraction of click and collect.
One of our cash and carry clients’s EFG Housewares, is offering a click and collect service that is proving incredibly popular and their customers love having a number of choices for shopping. With a range of options, EFG's customers have the chance to pick and collect, pick and deliver and of course buy in store.
This is certainly an area that is expected to continue to grow significantly in B2C, simply because of the growing expectation from consumers for retailers and companies to offer a range of delivery operations which is starting to extend rapidly to click and collect services with a number of pick up destinations being offered. Likewise, we can predict its possible retailers will have similar expectations of their wholesalers to adopt and provide an up-to-date and efficient click and collect service too.
