Ecommerce platform leader Magento has revealed some of the updates that will feature in Magento 2.3.5 during a recent webinar.
Included in the host of exciting developments are new page builder template creation updates, page builder video insertion, page builder and Adobe stock integration, integrated DotDigital live chat, and Sensei, a product recommendation service.
In the latest Williams Commerce blog, we take a look at what we can expect from Magento 2.3.5.
Sensei
Adobe is now seen as one of the most innovative companies for AI. Adobe AI/ML is the company’s underlying engine that drives 100 features across Adobe’s landscape, with a dedicated team of engineers for commerce working on the engine.
Adobe Sensei for commerce is used to drive product recommendations as part of Magento 2.3.5, and is free for all Magento Commerce clients with Magento 2.3.5 and updates.
Sensei is free to download on Magento Store and can be installed and used immediately. Once installed, Sensei will auto page tag and start collecting data, as it has the ability to view reporting in admin.
There is still lots to do on the platform however. This includes overlays, categorisation, A/B testing, mobile app personalisation segmentation.
Magento has trialled Sensei with 50 merchants as testers to continue to develop this offering.
Sensei for commerce offers item-based, shopper based and contextual popularity-based recommendations, and has received positive feedback from the merchants it has been trialled by.
Page Builder
The Magento 2.3.5 page builder is solid in terms of its ability to allow users to create templates and to insert videos to pages and overlay them with text. No doubt the page builder template features will be used a lot, but whether videos will be used as widely remains to be seen.
Even though the videos are not physically hosted on the site, they are referenced externally to YouTube, Vimeo, and other cloud video streaming services. This is something to be conscious of with merchants adding additional weight to the pages.
Adobe Stock Integration
Adobe Stock Integration is useful as it keeps users within the admin instead of jumping out to a new tab. However, you will need an Adobe Stock license to use this.
Live ChatÂ
This is DotDigital’s integrated Live Chat. It’s completely free and you get 1 free license with Magento 2.3.5. Any extra is chargeable through DotDigital, and the account needs to be created with DotDigital.Â
Upcoming Magento upgrades
Magento is continuously adding to and enhancing its ecommerce offering, providing regular updates to its software.
Magento 2.3.5 was made generally available on 28 April, while the next version, Magento 2.3.6, is expected for pre-release on July 14 2020 and general availability on July 28.
Magento 2.3.7 is set for pre-release in October 2020, and to be made generally available on October 15.
