With Magento 2 officially launched in November 2015, Williams Commerce have since launched over 10 websites on both Magento Enterprise and community editions on the brand new Magento 2 platform.

Magento 2 is a significant upgrade to a world-class commerce system and includes a range of new capabilities focused on improving site speed and performance, enabling better visibility into online results and the ability to create differentiated omnichannel ecommerce experiences.

The team here at Williams Commerce are confident that online retailers will benefit from moving to Magento 2, when the time is right.

In the meantime, if your business is currently operating on Magento 1 and you have heard that Magento are cutting support for Magento 1 at the end of 2018, Magento have recently confirmed that Magento 1 has been and will continue to be supported for the foreseeable future.

Magento has no intention to deny access and support to their software and are committed to a minimum 18-month notice period before making any changes to support levels.

For many merchants running on Magento 1, this means there is no pressure at present to start thinking about migrating to Magento 2.   Many businesses are however starting to plan in the move to Magento 2, to take advantage of the latest features on the Magento platform. We can help advise businesses either way.

There are many misconceptions floating around the market regarding Magento 2.  If you’d like to discuss your situation, give the commerce team a call at Williams Commerce, where you can rely on objective advice from an experienced team.
