Google is to introduce customer photos to online shopping reviews as it embraces user generated content.
Companies will now be able to include the photos that their customers post in reviews alongside their products in shopping ads.
Moving forwards, customer photos will be included in search results as a way of providing extra information, context and purchasing inspiration to customers.
Our friends at Yotpo are helping to make this happen, with Yotpo being one of the Google partners able to provide this new customer photos feature.
Yotpo makes it easy for customers to submit photos when reviewing a product. The ‘Photos in Reviews’ feature makes it simple for shoppers to submit a photo alongside a text review as part of a post-purchase review request from the merchant – usually sent out via email.
The move reflects a growing consensus that images and photos have a major role to play in the online purchasing process.
According to Yotpo, 77% of shoppers believe authentic photos from customers have a greater impact on their own decision than a professional brand photo does.
Yotpo recently completed the acquisition of loyalty and rewards platform Swell, and became a Magento Premier Partner.
